About VICS AsiaPacific

VICS has established an office in Beijing for the purpose of engaging the AsiaPacific business community in the development and implementation of VICS’guidelines. VICS has a long and successful history of developing guidelines for the retail industry that have proven to result in effective and efficient forecasting of demand and movement of product from point of manufacture to the store. The education of the use of these guidelines will be a major area of focus for VICS AsiaPacific, as guidelines without education is a meaningless exercise. It is expected that manufacturers and up stream suppliers will become active in the development of VICS guidelines, which will be translated into Chinese.

VICS AsiaPacific Representation aims to bring the already well-established VICS solutions into China, and develop guidelines that are suitable for China sourcing and collaboration.  VICS AsiaPacific will also act as a CPFR/Collaboration Certification center for the China region.

June 19, 2008, Hong Kong – A conference took place for Retailers, suppliers and service providers organized by VICS AsiaPacific, GS1 Hong Kong, and eBizprise. The purpose of the conference was to provide the history of VICS and explain the various initiatives that have influence on global commerce.

There was significant interest in VICS and the guidelines that are in the process of being developed. It was clear that many of those in attendance had little or no understanding of the work that was being performed by VICS committees in the USA. This presents a significant opportunity in areas such as: CPFR®, Packaging, Direct to Consumer, DC Bypass and Collaborative Material Standard Specifications (CMSS). It was decided that VICS AsiaPacific will begin with a CMSS implementation roadmap, which will be facilitated by a survey distributed by eBizprise. Read full report
